Welcome to the Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM)!

The Corning Assured Services Local Area Network (AS-LAN) represents a revolutionary NextGen data transport architecture that addresses the Department of Defense’s exponentially growing bandwidth demands and data-intensive operational requirements. AS-LAN delivers dedicated bandwidth directly to edge devices through fiber-to-the-edge connectivity, eliminating the latency and performance bottlenecks inherent in traditional shared bandwidth systems. This end-to-end network solution combines Layer 1 and Layer 2 components with composite cable technology and intelligent power that delivers both high-bandwidth data transmission and power to distances exceeding 2,000 feet from a single centralized location.

The AS-LAN architecture enables warfighters to access mission-critical information at unprecedented speeds while supporting bandwidth-intensive applications including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, 5G communications, Wi-Fi 7, and advanced weapon system integration. By extending fiber connectivity deeper into the network infrastructure, AS-LAN eliminates multiple intermediate distribution frames (IDFs), reduces up to 70% less linear cabling and 50% fewer cable trays, reduces capital expenditures up to 50%, and provides a software-defined LAN (SD-LAN) foundation that supports zero-trust security architectures extending to the edge port level.

This proven technology addresses DoD’s “data tsunami” challenge by providing unlimited scalability for current and future network demands without the typical expense and disruption of infrastructure upgrades. AS-LAN supports the DoD 2020 Data Strategy requirement for speed and scale in data operations, enabling enhanced decision-making capabilities, improved situational awareness, and faster access to information across all operational domains.
