Welcome to the Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM)!
ExactTrak’s SmartSafe technology revolutionises secure computing by eliminating the need for multiple laptops across different security levels. This innovative solution allows users to boot a single device into various operating system images based on specific time and location requirements.
ExactTrak’s SmartSafe is an innovative cybersecurity solution designed to enhance device security by operating independently of the operating system and BIOS. This embedded technology allows users to manage multiple security levels with a single laptop, significantly simplifying device management and reducing costs. SmartSafe employs advanced encryption algorithms and key management protocols that are resistant to quantum computing threats, ensuring robust protection for sensitive data. It features location-based security controls, enabling organisations to dictate when and where data can be accessed, and provides comprehensive remote management capabilities for monitoring and controlling devices even when powered off. Trusted by the UK government, SmartSafe represents a significant advancement in cybersecurity, offering a multi-layered defence mechanism that meets stringent security standards across various sectors.
ExactTrak’s SmartSafe differentiates itself from software-based geofencing solutions through its unique embedded hardware architecture, which operates independently of the operating system and BIOS. This design minimises vulnerabilities that software-based systems may face, particularly from cyber threats, including those posed by quantum computing. While traditional software geofencing relies on the operating system to monitor location and enforce access controls, SmartSafe provides a more secure approach by controlling device access and data retrieval directly at the hardware level. This enables precise restrictions based on time and location without the risk of software exploitation. Additionally, SmartSafe allows for rapid access to secure environments, such as a Secure Compartmentalised Information Facility (SCIF), within 15 minutes, ensuring that sensitive information can be shared safely in the field. Overall, SmartSafe offers a more robust and resilient solution for managing security across various operational contexts compared to conventional software-based geofencing methods.
Hardware vs Software
The benefits of hardware-based geofencing, offered by ExactTrak’s SmartSafe, include enhanced security, reliability, and operational efficiency compared to software-based solutions.
1. Increased Security: Hardware-based geofencing operates independently of the operating system and BIOS, reducing vulnerabilities to cyber threats. This makes it less susceptible to hacking or exploitation, which can be a concern with software-based systems that rely on the host OS.
2. Rapid Deployment: SmartSafe can quickly access secure environments, such as SCIFs, within 15 minutes. This capability allows for immediate sharing of sensitive information.
