Welcome to the Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM)!
Vcinity improves the efficiency of Wide Area Networks (WANs) for transferring unstructured data without requiring any changes to the network infrastructure. Instead of using compression or deduplication, Vcinity employs a unique approach developed through collaboration with In-Q-Tel via the NRL and NRO. This approach has proven effective in enhancing WAN efficiency in heavily encrypted environments, where other existing technologies fail when encryption is applied or if the data is already compressed or deduplicated. Additionally, Vcinity has partnered with the NSA to expand encryption capabilities, facilitating third-party integrations with security technologies such as Type 1 encryption devices and Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) software.
Vcinity reduces the impact of latency, allowing you to utilize over 90% of the bandwidth you pay for, resulting in data transfer speeds that are more than 20 times faster. Consequently, customers no longer have to physically ship disk drives to transfer large volumes of data, waste hours of productivity waiting for data replication throughout the enterprise, or manage the complexities of an enterprise-wide data encryption architecture.
In terms of value, today’s big data software can scale and leverage extensive data repositories on-premises and/or in the cloud. Considerable energy and investment are dedicated to optimizing these workloads’ ability to efficiently access data. For the DoD and IC, these workloads operate on a global scale, with edge devices collecting critical data at unprecedented rates. Most of Vcinity’s Federal implementations highlight the significant value in transferring data to and from big data workloads, which directly impacts the mission by enhancing the viability of workload outputs. This increased efficiency allows Program Managers and Commanders to leverage more information and make decisions more quickly.
Vcinity tackles the challenge of efficiently transferring pre-encrypted, non-compressible data across long distances. Vcinity software integrates seamlessly into existing architectures as a storage gateway, making it easy to deploy and manage. By replacing TCP/IP with high-performance computing (HPC) protocols and using memory buffers at both ends of the WAN, Vcinity creates a high-speed data pipeline between sites with some very interesting quality of service capabilities. It does not alter the data, install network agents, leave any form of fingerprints on the data and leverages the existing on-premises servers, storage, and networking infrastructure. Vcinity is also compatible with major cloud services like AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud. Once data is moved, Vcinity doesn’t have to be present to use the data and therefore at any time, Vcinity can be turned off without any vendor lock-in issues.
